Sometimes we feel down and we just don't know the reason why. Or we do know why but we don't know how to fix it. Sometimes we are no longer getting along with the person we love. And sometimes we could just use some extra support.

I am a counselor passionate about helping you and your loved ones overcome challenges, hang-ups, and mental and emotional issues that are preventing you from living freely.

New Counseling Group - Dealing with Difficult Emotions
Starting May 30, 2018!

Dealing with Difficult Emotions - Group Therapy

This is a dialectical behavior therapy-based group that will focus on recognizing, dealing with, accepting, and changing our emotions through the use of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal/relationship skills, and radical acceptance.  If you are experiencing intense emotions and it is impacting you negatively (i.e., it is hurting your relationships; you feel out of control or overwhelmed too often; you deal with obsessive, compulsive, or self-destructive behavior; you have difficulty organizing your life; you struggle with transitions, etc.), then this group is for you.  Come to this group with whatever emotions you are feeling and learn how to better cope with them so that you can better show love and understanding to both yourself and to others.  Whether you know the reasons for your difficult emotions or not, come learn how to increase your self-awareness and your understanding of what is going on in the inside, and how to cope with it.  This group will be part psychoeducational and part discussion/processing.

Ideal participants include those who are experiencing intense and difficult emotions, such as anger, sadness, grief, depression, etc.   I offer both an evening and a daytime group.  New groups are starting all the time; interested participants should contact me for an initial screening to ensure that this group is appropriate for them, and then I will provide them start-date information for the next group.

Ages:  Adult (18+)
Start date: New groups beginning all the time; next group starts May 30, 2018
Length of time:  1 afternoon or evening/week for 6 weeks; 1.5 hours each session
Cost: $50/session (thus, $300) + book purchase (approx. $15-20)
Location: DCVA Counseling Psychotherapy, 200 Little Falls Street, Suite 306, Falls Church, VA 22046
Format: 2-6 participants per group; to promote group cohesion participants are asked to miss only 1 of the 6 sessions
